Taking Action
We get involved where we see opportunities to contribute our expertise and support the success of digital equity and social justice organizations.
Our Impact Model
To maximize our effectiveness in the digital equity and social justice ecosystem, we concentrate on three pathways of change.
Grantmaking:
These operations support and expand the impact of social impact organizations in the digital equity and social justice spaces. By combining revenue from our programs and spectrum agreements and investment income, we are able to fund grantmaking operations and take educated risks that other organizations in the space cannot.
Broadband Services:
To help people in under-resourced communities gain internet access, we sell internet accounts and low-cost hardware to our digital equity partners. This arrangement allows and incentivizes our telecommunications partners to offer low-cost internet services and devices to schools, libraries, nonprofits, and social welfare agencies in under-resourced communities.
Partnerships:
We are strong believers in partnerships and collaborate across our extensive network to support the work of social impact organizations and conduct joint advocacy and funding efforts. This approach provides us with the ability to expand our programs, form new partnerships, and scale our operations to narrow the digital divide across the US.

Active Partnerships
“Every nonprofit organization hopes to find a funder that is a true partner. 35 Mile Foundation shares their expertise with us, helps us talk through challenges and brainstorms solutions with us. They understand the nuances of barriers to digital equity. They are investing in NDIA's long term success and strengthening the digital equity ecosystem.”
