Turning Technology into Opportunity
Across the US, the digital divide prevents many historically marginalized people from tapping into the modern digital world. This barrier makes it difficult for people to utilize government and nonprofit services and compete for jobs, wages, and opportunities. They can’t access important services, connect with friends and loved ones, or experience what’s happening in arts, culture, and entertainment.
We provide schools, libraries, social welfare agencies, and nonprofits with affordable high-quality internet access and low-cost internet-ready devices. In turn, they are able to supply students, parents, and many others with internet access. We’re able to provide affordable top-shelf unlimited 5G service with no data caps by leveraging our Educational Broadband Service (EBS) license issued by the FCC.
Schools
Today, students access homework assignments, reading, teacher feedback, and more online. For students whose families find it difficult to afford internet access and the technology their children need, they often turn to the school. We offer low-cost technology — specifically mobile internet hotspots — and affordable broadband services to schools. In turn, they offer them to the families of students, making it easier for them to access the internet.
Libraries
Thousands upon thousands of people access the internet at their local public library. These institutions are subject to tight budgets that can prevent them from providing this valuable service. We offer affordable internet access to libraries, helping them keep their costs down so that they can make internet access available to the communities they serve.
Social Welfare Agencies
Social welfare agencies provide assistance to people — such as health care, food, housing, and child care assistance. Increasingly, the people who need to receive this assistance are required to do so online. We are able to offer these agencies low-cost mobile hotspots and broadband services that they can then offer to people who find it difficult to afford them.
Nonprofits
We work with digital equity- and social justice-focused nonprofits to help them bring affordable internet services and mobile hotspots to the people they serve. By working with these organizations, we’re creating new pathways to providing people outside of the institutions listed above with the services and hardware they need to step across the digital divide.
About Internet-Enabled Devices
We provide low-cost mobile hotspots to the organizations and agencies we work with. A mobile/portable/personal hotspot device allows a user to connect to the internet through our telecommunication partner’s network. Hotspots are vital to people without internet service.
We also support and partner with organizations that repair and refurbish internet-enabled devices. Some of these organizations offer their devices directly to people and some provide portable hotspots. Our goal is to make low-cost internet-enabled devices available to historically marginalized people so they’re able to take advantage of online opportunities and services.
From the beginning, 35 Mile Foundation has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to strategic collaboration that goes beyond business. Their team actively engages with us, not only providing reliable internet service but also collaborating to understand our customers and craft a program that truly meets their needs. Their proactive approach and willingness to adapt have significantly enhanced our capacity to serve those who are most in need.
